A woman, and a one-year-old child were among three people who were found dead on the tracks near Elathur railway station in Kerala’s Kozhikode, hours after a man allegedly set afire a co-passenger following an argument over a seat.Eight other people on board an express train in Kozhikode were injured in the incident that resulted due to the argument. A team of forensic experts reached the spot and undertook the investigation.

According to media reports the incident occured at 9.45 Pm Sunday, while Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express reached Korazuppa Railway bridge after crossing Kozhikode city.
As per the initial reports, the incident took place after a suspected argument between two persons. One passenger torched the other. It is suspected that the man, who is yet to be identified, escaped when the train slowed down after passengers pulled the emergency chain.
Kozhikode city police and the Railway Protection Force have initiated probes into the matter.
