Youth held with Rs1.34 crore cash in Ramol ahead of civic body polls in Ahmedabad

The Ramol Police have nabbed a youth with Rs1.34 crore in cash from the Ramol Ring Road ahead of the civic body polls in Gujarat. The youth is an employee of a courier company but he could not give a satisfactory reply about how he came to have Rs1.34 crore in cash.

Police have as of now seized Rs1.34 crore and are investigating the matter. The election commission and the police are on the lookout for unaccounted wealth ahead of the civic body polls in six municipal corporations of the state on February 21.

Usually, cash and alcohol are given as a lure to voters by several candidates.

The youth was nabbed following a tip-off. He was identified as Bhavesh Vadand, 28, a resident of Sokhda. He could not provide any legal documents to prove that the wealth was accounted for.

Ramol police inspector KS Dave said that Bhavesh is an employee of P Praveen courier service in Navrangpura. He had to deliver the money to a person in Malad in Mumbai. As of now, there is no legal documentation involving the money. The courier company owner has been called for questioning and they have been told to give details about the money.
