A complaint of cheating was registered with the Sola Police against Popular Builders. This is the fourth complaint of cheating against them in various police stations of the city.

The complaint was filed by Babuji Thakor, 65, a resident of Amblivadvass in Thaltej village. Thakor has accused the four Patel brothers of Popular Builders and 10 others of trying to grab land using fake documents.

Thakor has named the Popular Builders brothers Raman Patel, Dashrath Patel, Chaggan Patel and Natwar Patel in the complaint. He has also named Mitesh Patel, Piyush Parikh, Sandeep Prajapati, Kokilaben, Mayurika Patel, Savita Patel, Krinesh Patel, Lata Patel, Nilesh Patel and Kada Patel. Most of the accused named in the FIR are related to the four Popular Builder brothers.

What the complaint against Popular Builders say?

As per the complaint, the accused used fake documents and fake signatures to make a fake power of attorney and sold Thakor’s land worth crores of rupees on October 21, 1993.

The complaint states that the power of attorney based on which the land was registered as sold as of January 24, 1994. Thus, the accused sold the land before the power of attorney could be made.

The sale deed was in the name of the Someshwar Darshan Samudayik Sahakari Mandali. Interestingly, the organisation as per rules cannot be sold agricultural land.

The accused tried to hide this and misled the District Registrar of Co-operatives and Ahmedabad District Panchayat by converting the organisation into a co-operative housing society.

Thus despite it not being valid, the brothers registered the land in the name of their family members on May 7, 2015, by buying it from the co-operative housing society.

It also alleged that the accused showed the land as being sold to a farmers cooperative which no more existed. Yet they represented themselves as members of such a society and got the land.

It further alleges that the Someshwar Darshan Co-operative Society chairman Sandeep Prajapati despite being aware of the unlawful way in which the land was brought sold it to the accused.

Nilesh Patel and Kada Patel were the witnesses in this illegal deal while the land was given to members of the Popular Builders’ family.
