A Noida-based woman who was availing treatment for COVID-19 in the
isolation ward of a private hospital has alleged that she was molested by a doctor.
The 20-year-old woman claimed that the incident took place on Monday.
Notably, the doctor was also availing treatment for COVID-19 in the isolation ward.
The local expressway police station has registered an FIR in the incident.
Police officials said an investigation in the case is going on.
Hospital admitted man and woman in same ward
However, police claimed that prima facie, there were lapses on the part of the hospital.
The hospital allegedly admitted a man and a woman in the same isolation ward in contravention of norms.
Police officials said both the woman and the doctor tested positive for COVID-19 last week and were availing treatment.

“The woman was in the isolation ward of the private hospital.
There was a man, a medical practitioner, who too was infected with coronavirus and was sharing the ward with her,”
additional deputy commissioner of police, Noida, Ranvijay Singh said.
Police immediately registered FIR
He said the woman alleged molestation and upon being informed,
the police immediately lodged an FIR.
Singh added that the police have initiated a probe into the matter.
“There appears to be some irresponsibility on part of the hospital too.
We are communicating with the medical departments to check whether the
patients were being kept in accordance with the guidelines,” Ranvijay Singh said.
He said the accused is still in isolation,
however the police will reach out for his statement following due protocols of COVID-19.
“All necessary action will be taken after a thorough investigation,” Singh added.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has informed that 47,703 fresh cases of COVID-19
have been reported in the country in the past 24 hours. In addition
The addition of the fresh cases has taken the COVID-19 case count to 14.83 lakh.
In addition to this, 654 fresh fatalities have been reported during this period.
The addition of the deaths has taken the death toll to 33,425.
