Gujarat on Monday recorded 902 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the highest single day spike in COVID-19 ever recorded in the state. It is also the first time that the per day cases have crossed the 900 mark. With this, the total number of cases in the state stands at 42,808 while the death toll is 2,057. The state recorded 10 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. The state has recorded over 800 cases for four consecutive days while it has recorded over 700 cases five times so far.
Surat recorded the highest number of cases among all districts of Gujarat. The district recorded 287 cases while Ahmedabad had 164 cases in all in the last 24 hours. Vadodara and Gandhinagar recorded 74 and 25 new cases.
Surat recorded five new deaths while it was three for Ahmedabad. Gandhinagar and Morbi recorded one death each.
The total number of cases in Ahmedabad now stands at 23,259 while it is 8,115 for Surat, 3,126 for Vadodara and 917 for Gandhinagar.
The death toll for Ahmedabad is 1,522 while it is 219 for Surat, 51 for Vadodara and 35 for Gandhinagar. The number of active cases in the state now stands at 10,945.
