Gujarat on Sunday recorded 879 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases in the state stands at 41,906 while the death toll is 2,047. The state recorded 13 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. This is the fourth consecutive day that the total number of per day cases have crossed the 800 mark. For five days the state had recorded over 700 cases earlier.
Surat recorded the highest number of cases among all districts of Gujarat. The district recorded 251 cases while Ahmedabad had just 172 cases in all in the last 24 hours. Vadodara and Gandhinagar recorded 75 and 29 new cases.
Surat recorded five new deaths while it was four for Ahmedabad. Junagadh recorded two deaths while Kheda and Rajkot had one death each. The total number of cases in Ahmedabad now stands at 23,095 while it is 7,828 for Surat, 3,052 for Vadodara and 892 for Gandhinagar.
The death toll for Ahmedabad is 1,519 while it is 214 for Surat, 51 for Vadodara and 34 for Gandhinagar. The number of active cases in the state now stands at 10,661.
