Gujarat on Friday recorded 875 new COVID-19 cases, the highest recorded so far in a single day in the state since the pandemic began. With this, the total number of cases in the state stands at 40,155 while the death toll is 2,024. The state recorded 14 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. This is the second time that the total number of per day cases have crossed the 800 mark. For five days the state had recorded over 700 cases.
Surat recorded the highest number of cases among all districts of Gujarat. The district recorded 269 cases while Ahmedabad had just 165 cases in all in the last 24 hours. Vadodara and Gandhinagar recorded 69 and 31 new cases.
Surat recorded four new deaths while it was five for Ahmedabad. Aravali, Mehsana, Junagadh, Gandhinagar and Jamnagar recorded one death each. The total number of cases in Ahmedabad now stands at 22,745 while it is 7,307 Surat, 2,905 for Vadodara and 835 for Gandhinagar.
The death toll for Ahmedabad is 1,511 while it is 206 for Surat, 51 for Vadodara and 34 for Gandhinagar. The number of active cases in the state now stands at 9,948.
