The country recorded 103 deaths due to Covid19 in the last 24 hours taking the total death toll to 2,752, data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare showed. India also recorded 3,970 new Covid19 cases. With this the total number of cases stands at 85,940, including 53,035 active cases, 30,153 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 2,752 deaths.
Maharashtra has the highest number of cases so far followed by Tamil Nadu. Maharashtra has 29,100 cases followed by Tamil Nadu at 10,108 and Gujarat at 9,931. Delhi ranks fourth with 8,895 cases
Of the total 103 deaths, 49 were in Maharashtra, 20 in Gujarat, 10 in West Bengal, eight in Delhi, seven in Uttar Pradesh, five in Tamil Nadu, two in Madhya Pradesh, one each in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh.
Maharashtra also leads in death toll with 1,068 deaths reported from the state so far followed by Gujarat with 606 fatalities and Madhya Pradesh at 239. The ministry said that over 70% of the total deaths reported in the country was a result of comorbid conditions.
