The Delhi High Court has issued a notice seeking funding from the Center and the state government for the movement against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Shaheen Bagh and other places in the country for more than 70 days. This notice has been issued by the High Court while hearing a petition. In the petition, the court has been requested to order an inquiry into where the funding is coming for the Protest running against the CAA.
The high court has also issued a notice on the plea seeking investigation into the identity of those who are behind the anti-CAA protests. The plea moved by Ajay Gautam sought probe under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act to find out those behind the violence in northeast Delhi. Hearing this petition, the Delhi High Court today issued notice to the Delhi Police, Delhi Government, Central Government and sought its reply till April 30.
It may be noted that people have been protesting against this law by gathering in Shaheen Bagh for more than two months in Delhi against the Citizenship Amendment Act. In such a situation, many petitions related to this demonstration were heard in the Delhi High Court on Friday.
