- Meeting comes in wake of ruckus in WB Assembly over Birbhum violence
New Delhi: Members of Parliament from West Bengal will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi over breakfast on Wednesday.
Their meeting comes after the ruckus in the West Bengal over the violence in Birbhum.
Eight persons, including women and children, were killed after their houses were set on fire on March 21 by a mob enrage over the killing of TMC leader Bhadu Sheikh.
BJP MLAs in the state Assembly had on Monday staged a protest and demanded a statement from Cheif Minister Mamata Banerjee over the killings in Birbhum.
They also wanted a discussion on the allegedly deteriorating situation of law and order in Bengal.
Choas ensued in the House. A TMC MLA was rushed to the hospital after he was injured. The BJP claimed eight of its MLAs were injured.
Following the ruckus, the Speaker suspended five BJP MLAs, including leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari.
