The Biju Janata Dal MPs in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha had made it clear that we do not support NRC. At the same time, he appealed to the citizens of Odisha to ignore the rumor and maintain peace.

Before leaving for the national capital, Patnaik said, “The amended Citizenship Act has nothing to do with Indians. It deals only with foreigners. The BJD MPs both in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha have made it clear that we do not support the NRC.”
The Chief Minister’s statement comes at a time when people in the state capital had taken out a peaceful rally in protest against the Act. Patnaik urged to submit the revised Citizenship Act and National Citizenship Register (NRC) to the BJD government.
