Vadodara mother-daughter deaths turn out to double murder; father arrested


Vadodara: The mystery of the death of a 36-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter has been solved. While the cause of death could not be ascertained at the time of death, post-mortem report indicated at murder. Investigation revealed the husband as the killer.

A case of double murder was registered and her husband was arrested for the crime.

As per case details, the victims, Shobhna Patel, her daughter Kavya and husband Tejas Patel lived in New Sama area in Vadodara. Early on Monday morning, Shobhna and Kavya died under mysterious circumstances. Her husband Tejas had said that he had rushed them to the hospital after they complained of discomfort; however, they were declared brought dead. They had gone for garba the previous night.

According to police, there were unclear marks on Shobhna’s neck.

The bodies were sent to Sayaji Hospital in Vadodara for post-mortem. The report indicated at strangulation and poisoning.

Investigation revealed that the family had been living at Shobhna’s maternal home due to financial constraints. There were also reports of Tejas being involved with another woman.

Interrogation revealed that on Sunday night, when Shobhna and Kavya returned from garba, Tejas gave them poison. The police had found a bottle of rat poison from the terrace of the house.

A case has been registered in the matter and Tejas has been arrested.
