UP police bust illegal arms factory in Hathras


The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police on Thursday claimed to have busted an illegal arms-manufacturing factory in Hathras. The factory was busted after the arrest of a man and seizure of over a dozen firearms along with ammunition.

The UP police have seized 14 pistols of .315 bore, three rifles, including two of .315 bore, and three unfinished pistols of varying capacities from the unit besides ammunition in huge quantities.

Equipment and raw material used for illegally making the firearms have also been seized, UP police said.

Hathras’s superintendent of police (SP) Vineet Jaiswal said that one person has been arrested in connection with the case.

“The illegal arms factory was busted by a joint team of officials from the Kotwali police station and a special operations group (SOG). One person was caught from the spot located on Jalesar road on Hathras,” Jaiswal said.

The man has been identified as Kanchan, a local, who has been booked earlier also in over half a dozen cases, including under the Arms Act and attempted murder, the police said.

A fresh FIR has been lodged in connection with the case at Kotwali Nagar police station and legal proceedings have been initiated.

Arms factory busted by UP police in Meerut in September

The UP police had on September 14 busted an illegal arms factory in Humayun Nagar area in Meerut and arrested two persons who were allegedly involved in the manufacture of weapons.

“It is a big success for Meerut Police. We have busted an illegal arms factory. Two persons have been arrested who were involved in the manufacturing of weapons. Over 70 weapons have been recovered from their possession,” Ajay Sahni, SSP Meerut had then told reporters.

Delhi police and UP police busted arms factory in Aligarh in June

Delhi police’s special cell and Aligarh police had busted an illegal arms factory running from Baba colony in Aligarh in June this year. In the joint raid, six accused were arrested.

The massive recovery of raw material, sufficient for manufacturing many firearms, included 516 firearm barrels, three sample cartridges and 10 complete firearms. The illegal arms factory had Lots of springs, bolts and iron blades used for the manufacturing. To give the weapon a real feel, a polish machine and various other tools were also used by the accused.
