Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was editor of Samaana since 2012 when the then Sena chief and his father Bal Thackeray died. He resigned as the editor of Saamana on 28 November 2019, before taking the oath as the chief minister. Rashmi Thackeray wife of Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has been named as the new editor of Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana. Senior Sena leader Sanjay Raut will remain as its executive editor.
While the multi-edition Marathi ‘Saamana’ was founded on January 23, 1983 with the late Bal Thackeray as its editor, the Hindi ‘Dopahar Ka Saamana’ was launched on February 23, 1993. In the newspapers, the group’s publisher Rajendra M. Bhagwat announced the appointment of Rashmi as editor on Sunday. Rashmi Thackeray’s name is printed as an editor in the newspaper’s foot print. Saamana is the platform through which Shiv Sena puts forward its stand on political and development issues in Maharashtra and across the country. Apart from this, she shares her views on other current events through its editorial.
Rashmi Thackeray is often seen addressing the women’s wing programs of the Shiv Sena. It is believed that Rashmi’s political acumen is also one of the main reasons for Uddhav reaching the CM’s chair. It is said that Rashmi was the brain behind the project of Aditya Thackeray, the eldest son as deputy CM.
