A case of atrocity has been registered against two salon owners in Moti Parbadi village in Dhoraji taluka in Gujarat. The two had allegedly refused to shave and cut the hair of people from the scheduled caste.

The matter came to light after villagers complained to an activist in Jhanjhmer village who then secretly recorded the refusal of the salon owners on the grounds of cast. He then approached the police following which a case was registered.

The youth identified as Punit, who also goes by the name of Jonty, went to the salon while at the same time recording the entire event. He told the salon owner that he is a resident of Jhanjhmer village and belongs to the scheduled caste. The salon owner told Punit that he has been in the profession for several generations and even their forefathers never offered the service to those from the scheduled caste.

The youth then went to another shop too and the salon owner too refused to offer his service owing to his caste. He then filed a complaint with the Dhoraji police station following which a case was filed against the salon owners.
