Police in Rajkot arrested two men for vandalising an idol in a temple while being allegedly drunk. The accused shot a video of the vandalism and shared it on social media which led to a formal complaint.

Local media reports said that the two accused were identified as Jayesh Chudasama (27) and Dinesh Mahida (25). The video shows Chudasama kicking an idol of Nandi in the temple while Mahida is shooting the incident. On being arrested, the two allegedly confessed to their crime and said that they were drunk when the incident happened. They also said that they had uploaded a video apologising for their act.

The video went viral on June 28 and one of the viewers thought it was offensive. Investigations revealed that it was conducted in a temple in Rajkot’s Shapar Veraval industrial zone. The viewer then filed a complaint with the police. Probe found that the two accused were mulling to make a video that would be widely shared and thought vandalising a temple would be idle!
