The Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) has extended its support to the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan.
Two MLAs of the regional party clarified their stand at a joint press conference with state Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasara on Saturday. BTP legislators Rajkumar Roat and Ramprasad asserted that the support is in lieu of the promise that their demands related to development of the tribals in the state are fulfilled.
Earlier the party had issued a whip asking Roat and Ramprasad to be neutral and neither support the Congress nor the BJP. It had also told them not to back Gehlot or Pilot in a floor test.
“BTP MLAs and their party leaders held discussions with the chief minister. They were already with us and have reassured their support to the Ashok Gehlot government,” Dotasara said at the press conference. Roat had recently come up with two videos alleging that policemen were not allowing him to move out of his MLA residence in Jaipur. He now said it was because of a misunderstanding.
