Bengaluru: Twitter has taken the legal course against the Indian government order to take down specific content from the micro-blogging site, arguing that some of the orders fell short of the procedural requirements of the country’s IT Act, according to sources.
In the latest faceoff with the Union, the company has alleged abuse of power by officials.
Sources said that Twitter has alleged that several of the orders for blocking cite Section 69A, but do not explain how the content falls in that category or how it has violated the rules.
It has approached the Karnataka High Court for judicial review of these orders and to set aside these orders.
Last month, the IT ministry had threatened criminal proceedings against Twitter for non-compliance of orders.
