Tussle with police in Akhdol village in Nadiad, Vote For Congress slogans shouted during polls

As 81 Nagarpalikas, 31 district panchayats, and 231 taluka panchayats go for polls today, reports of a clash between police and Congress workers were reported Akhdol Village in Nadiad district.

The rural areas of the state saw brisk voting on Sunday. Some instances of trouble with EVM were also reported although the reports could not be confirmed

As a clash was reported between police and Congress in Akhdol village in Nadiad, several women from the village also entered into an altercation. The villagers began to shout vote for Congress during the altercation.

Reports said the Congress workers had been out early morning on the streets of the villages supporting their party. In the Kheda district, 5 nagarpalikas and 8 taluka panchayats are going to the polls. This includes Nadiad, Thasra, Kapavan, Kathlal and Kanjari nagarpalikas and Nadiad, Matar, Kheda, Mahemdavad, Mahudha, Gadteshwar and Vaso taluka panchayats.

Kheda district has 1,115 polling stations for taluka panchayat elections while it has 271 polling booths for five nagarpalika elections.

The nagarpalikas have 2,68,753 registered voters while the taluka panchayat has 9,11,854 voters. Up to noon, 22% polling was reported.
