Youth Congress members on Monday created a ruckus at the local police chowki in Amraiwadi after they clicked a picture of a traffic brigade jawan taking an alleged bribe from a two-wheeler driver.

Youth Congress Amraiwadi leader Ravi Gupta further alleged that the Amraiwadi traffic police chowki ASI told them that the man in the photo, taking the alleged bribe did not work with them. It has emerged that the cop in the photo is associated with the Hatkeshwar Police Chowki.

How the traffic cop’s bribery was caught on camera?

As per case details, the youth Congress members were sitting under a bridge in Amraiwadi area when a traffic brigade cop asked a commuter on a two-wheeler to stop.

He then checked the documents of the commuter. But since the driver did not have the requisite documents, the cop ideally should have fined him and issued a memo. But instead, he accepted money from the driver, allegedly to let him go.

The youth who was sitting under the bridge clicked a picture of the bribe being taken. They then approached the police chowky nearby and complained about the cop who took a bribe.

The ASI refused to entertain the complaint stating that the man was not stationed at his point and in fact, belonged to Nagawel traffic chowki.

Gupta said initially the ASI at the chowki one Gadhvi pushed them and asked them to get out but when they began to take a video of the misbehaviour, he told them that the cop taking the bribe did not belong to his police chowki.

Gupta said when they questioned how can a cop who does not belong to a particular traffic point fine commuters at that point, Gadhvi did not reply.

Traffic I-division police inspector JB Buval said he was not aware of the incident but if a complaint is made they will investigate the matter.
