Gujarat inundated: Torrential rains hit Saurashtra, Central Gujarat


Ahmedabad: Several parts of Gujarat received heavy to very heavy rainfall through Sunday evening, leaving them inundated. Jamnagar and Chhota Udepur were among the places that were inundated after heavy downpour. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very heavy rain in next two days.

Narmana village of Jamjodhpur taluka in Jamnagar district received 10 inches in just 3 hours. In four hours between 2 pm and 6 pm on Sunday, Kalavad received 6 inches. Chhota Udepur recorded 7.5 inches and Kawanth 6.73 inches.


Water level in Narmada dam rises

With Madhya Pradesh getting heavy downpour, there has been higher inflow of water into the Sardar Sarovar Dam over Narmada in Kevadia. The dam received about 46,504 cusecs of water. The continuous inflow has raised the dam level to 115.86 metres, a rise of 86 centimetres in eight hours.

However, compared to the level last year, it is five metres lower.

More expected today

Heavy rain is likely in Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, Aravalli, Panchmahals, Dahod, Banaskantha, Patan, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabd, Vadodara, Narmada, Valsad, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Mehsana, Kheda, Dangs, Tapi, Navsari, Amreli, Dwarka and Diu on Sunday.
