A three-storey building collapsed in Punjab’s Mohali on Saturday. Officials said that the building located near the JTPL City Project on the Kharar-Landran road collapsed when an excavator working on an adjacent plot accidentally hit one of its walls. The structure reportedly housed the office of a local builder. After the building collapsed, there was an atmosphere of chaos. There is an atmosphere of panic among the people and still 5 to 6 people are feared trapped in this building.
After the building collapsed, the administration immediately called the NDRF teams along with relief and rescue teams for the rescue operation, after which these teams have started their work. The work of evacuating people trapped in the rubble of the building is going on. No casualties have been reported yet.
Mohali SDM Himanshu Jain said, “the relief and rescue work has been started immediately after this accident. So far, two people have been taken alive from the building debris, while there is still a possibility of 6 to 7 people being trapped in the building debris. People of NDRF and relief and rescue teams are engaged in this rescue operation.
