Kashmir: Terrorists opened fire at security forces deployed in Sopore town of Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday, killing at least four persons — two security personnel and two civilians. Three others, including a policeman, were injured in the attack, according to reports.
The terrorists started indiscriminate firing around noon at a joint party of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police that had been deployed in Arampora area of Sopore.
Kashmir police IG Vijay Kumar was quoted as saying that two police personnel had lost their lives in this attack. Two jawans are said to have been hospitalized and are in a critical condition.
LeT involvement suspected
Kumar added that two local residents were rushed to the hospital after being hit by bullets. But they were declared dead on arrival. He said it was likely that Lashkar-e-Taiba was behind the attack.
The entire area has been cordoned off and further investigation has been taken up. Details in the case are awaited.
