Aizawl: Over a fortnight after the violence at the Assam- Mizoram border, tension escalated in the area late on Tuesday night. Assam police allegedly fired at civilians of Mizoram, injuring one person, according to reports.
The incident took place at 2 am in Aitlang area that borders Hailakandi district of Assam.
As per reports, three persons from Vairengte town had gone there to collect meat from a friend who lives in Bilaipur in Assam.

In response to Mizoram’s allegation, Assam claimed that the police personnel only returned fire after miscreants from the other side of the border sprayed bullets at them.
