About 6 hours after the Supreme Court rebuke, the government has instructed the telecom companies to deposit the outstanding amount by 11:59 pm today. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea and other companies will have to pay the amount before the time fixed by the government. The Supreme Court had on Friday reprimanded the Department of Telecommunications for postponing recovery from telecom companies, after which the government has taken this step.
Government was reprimanded
It is known that despite the order of the Supreme Court in the case of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) of Rs 1.47 lakh crore, most companies did not deposit the amount. After this the Supreme Court had asked these companies why not take contempt action against you? Is there no law left in this country? It is better to stay in this country than leave it. ”The Supreme Court had ordered on October 24 that the telecom companies should deposit the dues by 23 January. The companies had appealed to reconsider the decision, but it was rejected by the Supreme Court. After this, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and Tata Tele had appealed to set a new schedule demanding more time for payment, but the Supreme Court on Friday rejected it too.
The real reason for resentment
In a letter written to other officers sitting in constitutional posts, a desk officer associated with the Department of Revenue, Department of Telecommunications, had said that no action should be taken against the telecom companies till the next order of the Supreme Court, even if they do not pay the dues in the AGR case. Do. This order was withdrawn by the Department of Telecommunications after the displeasure of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had said that when we have already ordered payment to telecom companies, then how can a desk officer issue such an order? We do not know who is disturbing the atmosphere? Is there any law left in the country? If an officer can do the crime against the order of the court, then the Supreme Court should be closed. The Supreme Court warned that if this officer does not withdraw the order within an hour, they can be sent to jail.
