India’s biggest auto mobile manufacturer, Tata Motors has confirmed the launch of its first-ever premium hatchback, the Altroz, will launch in January 2020. Tata’s hatchback debutant will compete with rivals like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz. Powering the upcoming Tata Altroz will be a 1.2-litre petrol engine that will deliver 102 HP and 140 Nm of torque.
The car is likely to receive three BS-VI compliant engine options. The teaser video posted on Twitter reveals a fluidic design along with LED headlamps and taillights. From inside, Tata’s Altroz is likely to come with a free-standing touchscreen atop the dashboard like Nexon.
Expected Engines: Tata is set to offer a choice of three engine options (two petrol and one diesel) on the Altroz. One of the two petrol engines is a 1.2-litre turbo petrol that makes 102PS of max power and 140Nm of peak torque. The diesel version will be powered by the Nexon’s diesel unit, although in a detuned form.
Expected Features: As a premium hatchback and as seen at the Geneva debut, the Altroz will get features such as a dual-tone dashboard, a 7-inch infotainment system, ambient lighting, steering-mounted audio and cruise controls, among others.
Expected Prices: The Tata Altroz will be positioned above the Tiago and is expected to be priced between Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 9 lakh.
The new Altroz will have dual-tone interiors. It will get a spacious cabin with features like 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, TFT cluster display with a new interface. Other features include ambient lighting, automatic climate control and front armrest.
Powering the upcoming Tata Altroz will be a 1.2-litre petrol engine that will deliver 102 hp and 140 Nm of torque. The motor is expected to be offered with manual as well as automatic transmissions. There is no official confirmation about other powertrain options as of now.
