The number of COVID-19 cases being reported from Ahmedabad district (barring A’bad city which falls under AMC limits) has seen a surge since the relaxation in Lockdown 4.0 were announced. On Monday, the district recorded 19 new cases and one death. Of the total cases in the district, Sanand, Viramgam, Dholka, Detroj, Dhandhuka recorded three cases each while Bopal, Bavla and Mandal recorded one case each. The talukas in the district are recording 10 cases per day for the last many days and many suspect that allowing movement of people from city to village and vice-versa is what has affected it.
The district (barring the city) has seen 239 COVID-19 cases so far. On Monday, the District Development Officer (DDO) also visited the containment zones in Sanand, Bavla, and Dholka talukas. Since Dholka has the highest number of cases among all talukas, local traders have volunteered to open shops only between 8 am to 12 pm and as per the odd-even formula.
Gujarat on Monday recorded 423 new COVID-19 cases and 25 new deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 17,217, while the fatalities due to the disease is 1,063. The state has been recording over 300 cases for more than a month now and has recorded more than 400 hundred cases four times since the pandemic began. Of the total deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 22 deaths were reported from Ahmedabad followed by two in Surat and one in Aravali. Ahmedabad (which includes the talukas as well as the city that falls under AMC limits) continued to register the highest number of per day cases in the state. On Monday, it recorded 314 such cases
