Tailor in Udaipur beheaded by ‘customers’; both arrested, says CM

Udaipur: A tailor was beheaded by two men posing at customers at his shop in Rajasthan’s Udaipur on Tuesday. The tailor, identified as Kanhaiya Lal was at work at his shop in Maldas area.

In a video uploaded on social media, the killers showed off the knives they had used for the beheading. They also threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Later, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted that both had been arrested from Rajsamand. He said the strictest possible action would be taken against them and appealed to people to remain calm.

One of them had attacked Kanhaiya Lal, while the other filmed the act.

The tailor had reported shared a post on social media supporting former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma who had been suspended over her controversial comments about Prophet Mohammad.

The incident triggered tension in Udaipur. Traders in the area shut their shops demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

Meanwhile, internet services in the city have been suspended for a day.
