New Delhi: Three cities of Gujarat have found a place among the 10 cleanest cities of India in the Swachh Survekshan 2021 rankings.
Ahmedabad, while ranked 10th on the list of cleanest cities in the annual survey, has been adjudged the cleanest cantonment in the country.
Indore in Madhya Pradesh was adjudged the cleanest city of India in the Swachh Survekshan 2021 for the the fifth consecutive year. It is followed by Surat at the second position and Vijaywada at the third.
Navi Mumbai was adjudged the fourth cleanest, followed by Pune, Raipur and Bhopal. Vadodara is at the eight place, Vishakhapatnam at ninth and Ahmedabad at 10th position.
Chhattisgarh has been named the cleanest state.
Varanasi is the ‘cleanest Ganga town’.
“I have been told that the results are based on the feedback given by over 5 crore citizens,” said President Ram Nath Kovind in his address at the felicitation programme.

Congratulating Indore for its success, Kovind said that Indore bagged the first place for the fifth time. “Getting ranked first in the entire country is praiseworthy, but retaining that position is even more praiseworthy,” he added.
Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri congratulated the civic bodies of the winning cities.
