Suvendu Adhikari criticises Mamata Banerjee for “politicising meeting with PM Modi”

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday launched an attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleging that she is trying to politicise the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He alleged that Mamata did not attend any of the meetings held in the past by the prime minister for COVID control.

Adhikari, who defeated Banerjee in the Nandigram Assembly constituency, posted a series of tweets in this regard.

The attack came after Mamata Banerjee said she was not allowed to speak at the meeting which was addressed by PM Modi. Mamata Banerjee said, “It was so unfortunate that after inviting the CMs, he did not talk to us. We were not allowed to speak.” She also claimed that only some BJP chief ministers and the PM made small speeches and ended the meeting after this.

What Suvendu Adhikari said

“Today, our respected CM Mamata Banerjee has once again shown her total disinterest in administration. True to her style, she has politicised a meeting Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi held with district officials, where grassroots level practices to fight COVID-19 were being discussed,” he said.

He added, “To state clearly, PM Narendra Modi has held numerous meetings with chief ministers in the last few months, how many did Mamata Banerjee attend? ZERO. Now, she hijacks a PM-DM meet to say she was denied a chance to speak. Shameful!”

The TMC turncoat also said, “5 out of the 7 district officials who spoke today belonged to non-BJP ruled states of Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and AP. Cooperative federalism is the firm commitment of PM @narendramodi, unlike CM @MamataOfficial who only believes in confrontational federalism.”

Criticism on COVID control

Suvendu Adhikari said that the COVID-19 situation in West Bengal is miserable, but the CM is busy playing politics.

He tweeted, “West Bengal’s COVID numbers are miserable, but the chief minister wants to play politics. The @AITCofficial is still busy in gory victory dances and targeting opponents. It is better they get down to work because the great People of West Bengal are watching!”
