Although the Gujarat government makes big claims about the safety of women. The matter of taking off underwear for menstrual examination of girl students at Sahajanand Girls Institute, run by the Swaminarayan Temple in Bhuj area of Gujarat was still not resolved. Now the Female trainee clerks of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) were allegedly made to stand naked together in a room for a medical test at a civic body-run hospital, prompting authorities to order a probe. The incident took place in the Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) hospital, run by the SMC, on February 20.
According to the information being received that around 10 female trainee clerks of the civic body were made stand naked for the medical test in the gynecology ward of the hospital. After which angry women approached the employee’s union after which the union has informed the Commissioner of Surat Municipal Corporation through written complaint and demanded action. The SMC alleged that even the unmarried women were checked for pregnancy by female doctors.
After the matter came to light, the question arises whether it was necessary to take a physical test of the women after getting stripped? This is a matter of investigation, but the question arises as to what action is taken against the hospital taking such action and when?
