Stopped for not wearing a mask, cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, wife argues with cop

Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja and his wife were caught in yet another controversy over the cricketer and his wife travelling without a mask. As per media reports Jadeja who was in his car with his wife was driving without a mask. 

A lady constable stopped them at Kisanpara Chowk in Rajkot and questioned them as to why they were travelling without a mask. An argument ensued and Jadeja’s wife Rivaba accused the lady constable of verbally abusing her husband. 

 

The constable also accuses Jadeja of being rude and abusing her. The altercation ensued after the constable asked the cricketer and his wife to pay a fine for not wearing a mask.

Neither Jadeja nor the constable has filed a formal police complaint in the matter, 

Fine upped for not wearing mask

It should be noted that from August 11 onwards the Gujarat government had announced that the fine for not wearing a mask in public was Rs1000. The government had also appealed to all to not step out without a mask.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had also appealed to people that Janmashtami celebrations be restricted to the home and not to visit crowded places. The Iskcon temple and several others have also barred devotees from temples in an attempt to maintain social distancing and prevent a crowd.

Other controversies

Ravindra Jadeja and his wife have often been in controversy. Earlier his wife was allegedly beaten by a police constable after she allegedly scratched his bike with her car. The constable was immediately suspended.

Sunita Yadav a constable in Surat also found herself at the receiving end of the administration’s ire after she stopped an MLA’s son for not wearing a mask. The MLA’s son and his friends allegedly began to abuse the cops.

At that time a curfew was in place and the lady constable had also questioned the MLA’s son and his friends driving around during curfew hours.
