At a time when the authorities are desperately trying to control the spread of coronavirus in Ahmedabad and requesting people to cooperate in their endeavours, there are some people who will neither understand these instructions and are risking theirs as well as others lives.
An incident that exemplifies the same happened in the Behrampura area of Ahmedabad on Monday. Notably, the police personnel deployed for ensuring the compliance of lockdown guidelines had to face stone-pelting. Following the incident, senior police officials reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Also, police arrested over 130 people who were involved in the stone-pelting incident and violated the curfew. Notably, the area has been already sealed by the authorities and a curfew has been imposed due to the rapid rise in COVID-19 cases being reported from the area.
Meanwhile, with the addition of the 91 fresh cases till 10 am on Monday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Ahmedabad has increased to 1,192—the highest in Gujarat. The city has also reported the maximum number of deaths in the state. After seven deaths were reported on Sunday, two deaths were again reported on Monday that pushed the death toll due to the deadly virus to 34 in Ahmedabad.
