State transport buses will ply on select five zones in the state from morning 8 am to 6 pm from May 20 onwards, chief minister Vijay Rupani said in a release. As per the relaxations made available, 1,145 buses will carry out 7,033 trips in the state although none will pass through the containment zones.
The transport department has said that the passengers will need to arrive at a stop at least 30 minute in advance. The passengers will have to mandatorily wear a mask and all of them will have their temperatures checked. The department clarified that though the ticket will be available with the conductor as well as the ticket counter at the station, it is advisable that passengers opt for mobile or e-tickets.
However, all bus services between Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad including the one that ferries passengers to the assembly will not function. Passengers are expected to maintain social distance both at the station as well as in the vehicle.
The buese will only run 60% of the original capacity. Only passengers who don’t show symptoms of Covid19 will be allowed to travel. They will be given sanitisers and will have to mandatorily use it before entering the bus. Inter-state travel however is banned.
