Two floors of the eight-storey Border Security Force (BSF) head office on Lodhi Road in Delhi were sealed after a staff member tested positive for Covid19. The complex also houses the CRPF headquarters which was also sealed on Sunday after two staffers tested positive.
An official said that a head constable working at the headquarters was found to be positive on May 3. Since he had been working on the second floor, the first and second floors have been sealed as a matter of precaution, the official said. Members of BSF and others who came in contact with the patient have also been quarantined, the official added.
The constable who had exhibited some illness symptoms earlier was immediately sent for medical care, and the offices were closed early as a precaution. It was also closed down for Saturday and Sunday and was bereft of staff except for the security personnel and control room members. Officials said they were also identifying the secondary contacts who may have come in touch with the infected patient. So far 54 members of the BSF have been detected with Covid19, most of whom were on duty at the Jama Masjid and Chandni Mahal areas of Delhi.
