Sonia Gandhi Demands Home Minister Amit Shah’s Resignation Over Delhi Violence

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) met today in New Delhi in which the situation after the violence in several areas of Northeast Delhi was mainly discussed. Rahul Gandhi did not attend this meeting because he is on a foreign trip. The CWC meeting was attended by Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, senior leaders AK Antony, KC Venugopal and many other leaders.

After finishing the meeting of the Congress Working Committee, Sonia Gandhi addressed a press conference regarding the violence in Delhi. Addressing the press conference, Sonia has targeted the central government and the Delhi government for the violence in the national capital, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“CM& Delhi Govt is equally responsible for not activating the administration to reach out to the people to maintain peace&harmony. It is the collective failure of both governments that have resulted in a great tragedy in the capital city,” said Sonia Gandhi while addressing a press conference.

In view of the ever-increasing tension in Delhi, Congress leaders and workers will organize a ‘peace march’ in the afternoon for communal harmony from the party headquarters. Significantly, the conflict between the groups that supported and opposed the CAA in northeast Delhi took a communal colour. The protesters set fire to several houses, shops and vehicles and threw stones at each other. As of Wednesday, at least 20 people lost their lives and around 200 people were injured in these incidents.
