The Somnath Trust, that manages a series of temples including the very popular Somnath Temple in Gujarat will reopen the premises for devotees from June 8 onwards. The move comes following a nod from the state government. The temple, however, will be open only for limited hours from 7.30 am to 11.30 am and 12.30 to 6.30 pm. Also devotees will not be allowed to attend the aarti at the temple to prevent overcrowding and to ensure that social distancing norms are not violated, a statement from the Trust said.
The trust has also said that wearing a mask will be a must for devotees and they will have to go through a sanitisation tunnel to ensure that they are completely sanitized before entering the premises. Also, the devotees will have to stand in a queue with adequate social distancing and a sign will show where devotees are supposed to stand. Offerings to the God will have to be placed at a designated place and devotees will have to move out of the temple premises immediately after the darshan of the lord.
