The government may have allowed for temples to function from Monday onwards albeit while maintaining social distancing and following certain norms. But, certain temples in the state have decided to let their doors remain shut for some more time despite the relief .
Some of these temples include Jalaram Temple in Virpur, Tulsishyam Temple and several Swaminarayan Temple in Saurashtra. The authorities of the concerned temples said that the Jalaram Temple will open on June 15, Swaminarayan Temple on June 17 and Tulsishyam Temple will open only after a month.
Once the temples open, they will still be open as per the timings set forth by the government that is between 7 am and 1 pm and 3 pm and 7 pm.
No prasad will be offered nor will the daily food offerings be given to people. Devotees will have to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Only 20 devotees at a time will be allowed to enter the temple.
The Tulsishyam temple has also cancelled the Gurupurnima celebrations in view of the rising number of cases.
