In the last 24 hours, seven children upto the age of one have reported to have contracted COVID-19. Most of these children are from Odhav, Asarwa, Thakkarbapanagar, Naroda, Vasna, Dariyapur and Kubernagar areas of the city. A two year old is also reported to have been infected in Naranpura.
Ahmedabad recorded 279 new cases by Tuesday evening and 24 deaths. The North Zone in the city reported 82 cases in a day while the West zone and the South-West Zones also recorded 87 cases. In the North Zone, Bapunagar had 27 cases, 20 in Naroda and 11 in Thakkarbapanagar among others.
In the district, 12 new cases were recorded while two deaths were also reported from the various talukas. The deaths were reported from Dholka and Viramgam. Among the talukas, Daskroi and Bavla had one case each while Sanand and Viramgam had two cases each. Dholka reported six new cases.
Of the 12 cases reported, eight are men while the rest are women. With this, the total number of cases in the district (barring A’bad city) is 251 while the death toll stands at 16. Among talukas, Daskroi has 88 cases, Sanand 32, Bavla 13, Viramgam 13 and Dholka 88. The district administration had tested 700 people on Tuesday of which 12 were reported to be positive.
