Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 in Shaheen Bagh area and has deployed heavy police force as a precaution. 12 additional company security forces have been deployed near the protest site. It consists of ten company male security forces, while two company female security forces have been deployed. The Hindu Sena had yesterday called off a protest calling for clearing the blocked road. The protesters have been holding a sit-in protest in Shaheen Bagh area since mid-December last year in protest against the CAA, NPR and NRC.
In Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh Joint Commissioner DC Srivastava said, “As a precautionary measure, there is heavy police deployment here. Our aim is to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident from occurring.”
The petition filed in the Supreme Court on the protest in Shaheen Bagh is now to be heard on 23 March. The petition demanded protection from the protesters. Most of the protesters against the citizenship act are women and children.
