A school teacher was arrested for the alleged murder of his wife and two children and dumping their bodies in a well in Jharkhand’s Palamu district. The murder happened over dowry-related issue and was reported from Rajhara village.
Apart from the man, his four family members have been arrested, local officials said.
The accused school teacher, Ashish Pandey, had initially filed a missing person complaint to deflect suspicion from him, police said.
The man, however, during interrogation, confessed to killing his wife Soni Devi, 25, daughter Samriddhi, 5, and son Samdarshi, 3. He strangulated them and dumped their bodies in a well near National Highway 75, officials said.
Their bodies have been recovered from the well.
Later the man’s father-in-law filed a complaint against him, his parents, elder brother and wife.
The father has accused his son-in-law used to physically and mentally torture his daughter ever since their marriage in 2014. He wanted land from his wife as dowry.
