New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a petition by the Shapoorji Pallonji group seeking review of an order upholding removal of Cyrus Mistry from Tata Sons.

Cyrus Mistry had succeeded Rata Tata as the executive chairman of Tata Sons. However, in October 2016, he was removed from the post. In December the same year, two investment firms backed by the Shapoorji Pallonji Group moved National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) alleging mismanagement by the Tata Sons.

In March 2021, the SC upheld the order of removal of Cyrus Mistry.

The latter, in a petition, sought review of the March 2021 order and also for expunging of a few remarks against him in the order.

Rejecting the request for review, the Apex court observed that there were no grounds for such a review.

Reacting to the order, Ratan Tata tweeted, “We would like to express our grateful appreciation of the judgement passed and upheld by the Supreme Court today. It reinforces the value system and the ethics of our judiciary.”
