The Supreme Court issued notices to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on a plea challenging the bail granted by the Jharkhand high court in one of the fodder scam case. The SC has given this notice on the appeal of the CBI in which the investigating agency has opposed the grant of bail to Lalu by the Ranchi HC. The Ranchi HC granted Lalu bail in the case of illegal evacuation from the Deoghar treasury. Lalu Yadav is currently in jail.
A three-judge bench headed by CJI Sharad Arvind Bobde, Justice B R Gavai and Surya Kant has issued a notice to Lalu Prasad Yadav. The court sought an answer from Lalu on the appeal filed by the CBI. It is known that on 12 July 2019, the High Court granted bail to Lalu in a case related to the fodder scam. This case is about the illegal withdrawal of Rs 90 lakh from Deoghar treasury.
Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh’s court granted him bail on two personal bonds of 50-50 thousand rupees. Lalu Prasad was sentenced to three and a half years by the CBI court in this case. A fine of Rs 10 lakh was also imposed. RJD supremo Lalu Yadav is currently in jail and is barred from meeting anyone.
