Saudi officials ban pilgrimages to Mecca over coronavirus, confirmed cases close to one lakh globally


The effect of the coronavirus spread across the world is increasing. So far, more than one lakh cases related to this virus have been reported. According to the report, around 97 countries of the world have been hit by the coronavirus, in which the worst conditions are in China, South Korea and Italy. At the same time, the number of people infected with this virus in India has increased to 33.

The coronavirus outbreak disrupted Islamic worship in the Middle East as Saudi Arabia on Wednesday banned its citizens and other residents of the kingdom from performing the pilgrimage in Mecca, while Iran canceled Friday prayers in major cities.

33 coronavirus cases in India

Currently, the number of people infected with the corona virus in India is 33. According to some media reports, two new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Amritsar. However, these are yet to be confirmed. There are 3 cases which have been cured. At the same time, out of 282 people in Rajasthan, a test has come positive for a couple from Italy. In order to contain the spread of coronavirus, the union government has mandated universal medical screening of all passengers coming from abroad. The authorities claimed that adequate screening measures have been set up and nine more airports have been added to the existing 21 airports, where the screening is being carried out.

Also, a national-level training on coronavirus infection and its management was organised by the Health Ministry for health officials of all states as well officials from hospitals operated by the railways, defence, and paramilitary forces.

Panic in Italy after China

The first case of coronavirus was reported in China. India’s neighboring country has lost 3070 lives due to this virus so far. On March 7, 28 new death cases were reported in China. At the same time, a total of 6,767 cases have been reported in South Korea. While 135 people have been cured of the disease, 44 have lost their lives. On the other hand, 49 people died in Italy in a single day from this virus. This information came out on Saturday, March 7. The death toll in this country of Europe has reached 197.

Iranian official involved in US hostage crisis dies of coronavirus

Former Iranian ambassador to Syria Hossein Sheikholeslam, 68, died on Thursday after contracting coronavirus earlier in the week, according to Radio Farda. Sheikholeslam tested positive for the virus two days prior and was taken to a local hospital in Tehran where all infected Iranian officials are currently being treated. It is reported that 8% of Iranian members of parliament are infected with the disease.
