New Delhi: A court in Delhi has sentenced Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain to the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED’s) custody till June 9.
Satyendar Jain was arrested on Monday by ED for alleged money laundering.
The CBI had in 2017 alleged that the minister and his wife had amassed disproportionate assets worth Rs 1.47 crore between February 2015 and May 2017. This was more than double their known sources of income, it had claimed.
Jain was questioned on Monday, but was arrested hours later for his reportedly evasive answers.
He was produced in the Rouse Avenue District Court on Tuesday.
Coming out in his support, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the case was fake.
He said, “We got our own minister arrested in Punjab, but the case against Satyendar Jain is fake.”
