Samajwadi Party MP Azam Khan from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh along with wife Tanzeen Fatima and son Abdullah Azam surrendered in the district court on Wednesday. The court has sent the three to judicial custody till March 2. Azam Khan had appeared in court in several cases, including making two birth certificates of son Abdullah Azam Khan.
Trouble for Azam Khan began in July last year and more than 4 cases were lodged against him and his family. He was booked for land grabbing, encroachment, book theft, power theft, statue theft, buffalo theft, goat theft while his son Abdullah Azam was booked for forgery in birth date documents. He even lost his membership of the state assembly after he was found guilty of forgery.
Azam Khan along with his family surrendered in the court of ADJ 6 Dhirendra Kumar. The court had also issued arrest warrants to Azam Khan, his wife Tanzeen Fatima and son Abdullah Azam in many cases. The special court in Rampur has sent Azam Khan, his wife Tanzeen Fatima and son Abdullah to jail for two days i.e. 7 days in judicial custody. The court had also ordered attachment of his house in a case on Tuesday.
On January 3, 2019, local BJP leader Akash Saxena had lodged a complaint alleging that Azam and his wife helped their son in obtaining two fake birth certificates one from Lucknow and another from Rampur following which an FIR was registered in Ganj Kotwali. The accused have been charge-sheeted under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
