As Gujarat sets new records in per day COVID-19 cases, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani carried out a meeting with the expert group of doctors at his residence on Thursday. The expert group was formed to provide guidance to control the spread of the disease in the state and help it provide a guideline on treatments too.
The meeting was attended by top health officials as well as deputy chief minister Nitin Patel. The meeting also discussed strategy as the state opens up further as part of Unlock 2.0.
The expert group reportedly pointed out the need for better awareness and also lauded the efforts of the AMC as Ahmedabad registered a relative dip in cases and deaths due to the disease. They also pointed out the need to further strengthen surveillance too.
Gujarat on Thursday recorded 681 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is the highest ever single day jump in cases recorded since the pandemic began in the state. It has also been recording over 600 cases for close to a week now. With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 33,999 while the death toll is 1,888.
