Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani announced the setting up of new GIDCs, allocation of plots through the online draw, and development of model estates and multistoried sheds in the state on Friday. The chief minister announced the initiatives at a function of GIDC that was held virtually.
Rupani announced the setting up of new GIDC estates spread over 987 ha of land in eight districts of the state. Of this, one GIDC will come up in Morbi in 500 ha of land. He said the one in Morbi will have all the facilities to ensure that it is a model estate.
He said 360 multi-storeyed sheds will come up in Valsad, Surat Bharuch, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad districts in the state.
The new GIDC will focus on Banaskantha’s Marble cutting and polishing, Jamnagar’s brass industry, Morbi’s ceramic, Patan’s auto accessories, Rajkot’s medical devices, and engineering units of Anand and Mahisagar among others.
The new GIDC will provide MSMEs with 2,570 plots of 500 to 2000 sq mt. Big industries will get 337 plots ranging from 10,000 sq mt to 50,000 sq mt.
The new GIDC is also expected to give additional employment to 20000 people.
