Congress MLA Gyasuddin Sheikh has written a letter to the Gujarat High Court Chief Justice saying that the administration has washed its hands of the happenings in Civil Hospital. In the letter, he said that given the fact that the number of deaths in Civil Hospital had gone up, it was time the state set up a control room right within the hospital to manage the situation. He also said that since the focus was only on Covid19, several other patients were being denied treatment and this was resulting in their death.

He sought investigation into the death of patients in Civil since Covid19 deaths in the hospital were highest and even the SVP Hospital had lower deaths. He said this pointed to the fact that somewhere there was a handicap in the way patients in Civil were being treated.

He also said that while the state and the civic body in the city refused to accept it, the rise in the number of cases had shown that community transmission was already happening here. He said in the last two weeks alone the city has recorded over 250 cases per day. He said that the government should need to ensure that Covid19 tests for people suffering from serious ailments of the heart and kidney were made free even in private laboratories.
