In another twist in the Rhea Chakraborty saga, the actor has claimed that she was coerced into making “self-incriminating confessions” by the NCB.

Rhea Chakraborty made the claim in her bail plea filed before the sessions court in Mumbai. She has also claimed that she has been falsely implicated by the NCB in the case and she had not committed any crime, whatsoever.

Her bail application is scheduled to come up for hearing today. Also, the bail plea of her brother Showik and other accused in the case are also going to be heard by the court.

She had earlier filed a bail plea before a magistrate’s court. However, the plea was rejected and she was sent to Byculla Jail on September 9.

Rhea arrested by NCB on September 8

The actor was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday. She was arrested after three days of questioning in connection with the drug probe in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.

Rhea Chakraborty was the girlfriend of Sushant and reportedly used to procure drugs for him. She has earlier also admitted that she occasionally used to consume drugs.

Rhea disclosed her involvement in the procurement of drugs for Rajput and related financial transactions during her questioning. She also revealed about her instructions to co-accused Sammuel Miranda, Dipesh Sawant and Showik Chakraborty in this regard.

The sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act invoked against her include 8(c) (sale, possession or manufacture of banned drugs) and 20 (b) (ii) (possession or use of small quantity of banned drugs).

Rhea’s plea before sessions court

The bail plea in the sessions court has been filed by her lawyer Satish Maneshinde. The plea provides: “During her (NCB) custody, the applicant (Rhea) was coerced into making self-incriminating confessions. The actor has formally retracted all such incriminating confessions.”

In the plea, she also said that her arrest is “unwarranted and without any justification”. “The actor’s liberty has arbitrarily been curtailed,” it added.

Rhea has also alleged that no female officer was present during her interrogation.
